Wigan Athletic took the bull by the horns today as they outplayed Everton at Goodison Park to win 3-0. In the first half Wigan played some of their best football of the season, with Shaun Maloney hitting the post after some neat passing, before a 5 minute period that derailed Everton’s FA Cup ambition. Goals from Figueroa, Former Everton youth player McManaman and Jordi Gomez gave owner Dave Whelan a dream day out and gives him the oportunity to relive a dream of a wembley appearance, Whelan who’s own football career was cut short at Wembley in 1969. But Wigan were good for the result and many Everton fans left at half time after a lack luster display by the Home Team, who now only have a top 4 position to concentrate on.
